New Assistant Coach Joins Hurricanes Family

The Hurricanes are pleased to annnounce the hiring of Mr. Andrew Holland as Assistant Coach.  Andrew brings a wealth of hockey knowledge, experience and passion to the program.  Prior to joining the Hurricanes staff,  Andrew has spent the last 13 years coaching in the Shelburne and Yarmouth Minor Hockey systems.  In those years, he spent a season as Head Coach of the Yarmouth Bantam AAA program, then 10 seasons with SCMHA Bantam AA and A programs winning three Bantam AA provincial titles to go along with two more titles at the Bantam A level.

Andrew resides in Barrington and is a product of the Shelburne County Minor Hockey Association (SCMHA) where his hockey took him to play at the Major Midget level with the South Shore Major Midget Mustangs.

In making the announcement, Brad Muise, Head Coach of the BMO Western Hurricanes had this to say, " We are very excited to add Andrew to our staff and these young hockey players are surely going to benefit from his enthusiasm and teaching ability.  His dedication to the development of hockey players and the programs he has run is second to none.  He's a true hockey guy, a real thinker, a communicator and understands what it takes. I look forward to working with Andrew as we continue the tradition of Hurricane Hockey. "

Coach Muise is also very pleased to confirm the return of Don Dodman and A.J. MacKinnon as assistant coaches, as well as retaining Andrew Caines as goaltender coach.  These guys were instrumental in the Hurricanes success last season.

These announcements come as the coaching staff prepare to host Hurricane propsects to their Spring Identification Camp begining this weekend on Sunday, April 17th.  A great group of returning players and propsects will be competing for precious roster spots on the 2011 - 2012 edition of the BMO Western Hurricanes.
