Western Hurricanes

Thirty Wins - the old fashion way ...we earned it

It was clear that there was no expectation that we had a team that could post 30 regular season wins but yet here we were faced with the opportunity.

It looked like it wouldn't be an issue as Keegan Cooke (Harnish) scored on a soft back hand that went five hole with just a minute in but then the Pictou squad answered and answered big.

With four minutes left in the first they tied it Livingstone (Cormier, Peters). With a minute played in the second Vokey (Doyle) put the Crushers up one. Following that Livingstone (Vokey) fired another dagger and the Hurricane were reeling. A quick time out and the switch gets turned on and the second finishes with some strong play and effort. Down three to one heading to the third the Hurricane regroup during the flood and the magic that hides in the dressing room rafters falls on the Hurricane squad yet again.

Third period...key the comeback. Bronsen Benight (Shatford) pounces on an open puck sitting in the blue and the Hurricane are within one. Keegan Cooke (Ty Duffus) ties it just past the midpoint of the third. Then the game winner as Baker finds Bronsen up the wing who fires a laser pass threading the needle to a charging Shatford. Josh throws in a dirty dangle and roofer and the comeback is complete. A few moments of pressure with the goalie pulled weren't enough to deny the thirty win plateau.

It was dandy at theTrenton area this morning as Hurricane Hockey played another excellent third. Make the final Hurricane 4 - Crushers 3.
