Shooting Frenzy at Spud Opener

The opening of the Spud tournament in PEI saw the Hurricanes do something they haven't done before ...fire 64 shots on the opponents net.

The Kings County Kings weren't able to battle with the Hurricane squad as they managed only three shots on goal. However you can appreciate the battle level of Sam Walsh, the Kings County Kings netminder as his 6'3" frame and shot blocking ability denied the Hurricane squad time and time again.

Quinn Nickerson got the only marker of the game when he received a pass in the slot and was able to snipe one top corner over the blocker of Walsh just 5 minutes in the game. Things were looking good at that point. The Hurricane squad hemmed the Kings in, out worked them and simply were all over them save a few power plays the Kings managed to get.

For the opener, the Hurricanes will take the 1-0 win and get ready for game two but the Hurricane players will be looking to dial in the sights to get more production from their opportunities. Hurricane hockey is alive and well on the island as the hard work and effort continued to control the play all while dominating the territorial battle.
