KV get KOâ??d by Hurricane

From the opening face off pucks went deep and the forwards went into action. If it wasn’t for four minutes of penalty kill it would have been a dominant period by the Hurricane players. KV held tough as they hung in there and tried to get something going on the power play. The penalty kill was in full force early though and the KV offence could not mount any pressure. Still with a strong finish in the last minutes of the first the Hurricane only had a ½ point to show for it. Could we see another Moncton effort with nothing to show for it… I mean, could it possibly happen twice in as many days…Nope!

The second period would see KV crack after the defense were working hard down low to contain the buzzing Hurricane forwards. Quinn Nickerson (Adams) ripped one top shelf from the far point to get the Hurricane squad fired up. With a nice right, then left jab Ty Duffus (Jollimore), and Jollimore (Harnish, M Messenger) had the KV boys reeling. Adding the fourth of the period Josh Shatford (Lunn) closed out the second with the Hurricane up 4-0.

The third made you think KV was playing a little rope-a-dope as they snapped in a power play marker on a quick shot short side. The Hurricane would respond a minute later Keegan Cooke (Mann, Jollimore) but credit for the sniper fire under the bar would take place minutes later. From there confusion over the rules, run time and penalty calls took over. We needed to get back on track and Cat delivered a crunching hit to motivate the Hurricane bench. With just seconds under the five minute mark Ty Duffus (unassisted) scored to put the Hurricane on top 6-1. KV fired another power play goal and managed to split the third period points but the Hurricane had what they needed. Hurricane 6 – KV 2.

With the mathmatics quiz over for the most part it will come down to Wins from here on out and you know what … that’s just fine with the Hurricanes.
