2 Wins on the Road

Saturday evening in Berwick the Breton Sport & Trophy Cougars played visitors to the Kings Mutual Valley Wildcats.  Colton Marchand would open the scoring for the Cougars on a goal mouth scramble from Cameron Yates.  Yates would score late in the 2nd, from Marchand and Derek Gentile.  However just 9 seconds later, Valley would get on the board.  Jonah Vidito would bury a rebound past Cody Smith, Christopher Llewellyn had the initial shot.  Logan O'Neil gave the visitors a 2 goal cushion heading into the 3rd, Dylan Pimentel and Connor Campbell had the helpers.  O'Neil would add his 2nd late in the game from Pimentel and Logan Struthers.  Final score 4-1.   Cody Smith was solid in the win, Paul Janes suffered the loss, shot totals were unavailable.

On Sunday The Cougars rolled into the Pictou County Wellness Center to battle the Scotsburn Crushers.  The Cougars roared out of the gate dominating play in the first but Crusher tender Tyler Howe stopped all 22 first period shots fired his way.  The score was 0-0 after the first.  In the second the Cougars once again dominated play firing 12 shots at Howe, but had no luck.  With 2 minutes to play in the 2nd frame, Crusher Jake Martin scored on a wild scramble, Tim Shea assisted.  The Breton Sport & Trophy were relentless in the 3rd and were rewarded with 2 goals from Captain Derek Gentile.  The tying goal was a beauty shot that eluded Howe.  Marchand had the helper.   Gentile would then score the game winner on the PP from Leon Denny and Hunter Bettens.  Kaine Drake would shut the door the rest of the way, Cougars win 2-1.   Drake made 13 saves to get the W, while Howe shouldered the loss, despite making 51 saves.
