The Novas

Wear It For Wishes

The Nova Bantams hosted their annual Wear it for Wishes fundraiser Saturday evening at the Antigonish Arena, when they faced off against the ACCEL Hawks.

The Nova Scotia Major Bantam Hockey League (NSMBHL) initiative, one in which all teams participate, is an annual event in support of the Children’s Wish Foundation.
Matthew LeBlanc of Port Hawkesbury, a wish recipient, served as honorary captain for the Nova Bantams and dropped the ceremonial puck.
He and his twin brother, Ben, also got the chance to visit with the team's players in their locker room.
From the home game, the Novas will donate 50/50 and ticket sale proceeds, along with monies from other team fundraisers.
The NSMBHL goal is to make a $100,000 donation to the foundation – the total raised by teams over the past four seasons – during the league’s annual provincial tournament, which the Novas will host in early 2020.
On the ice, Tyler Peddle scored twice, including the OT winner, while Jack Milner notched the win between the pipes, to pace the Nova Bantams - who donned their Children's Wish Foundation jerseys, to a 4-3 victory over the Hawks. (Contributed)
