NSU15 Major Player of the Month

The NS U15 Major October’s Player of The Month is Goaltender Leo Forance from the Nova`s.

 

Leo is statistically leading the League in all goaltending categories; in 3 games, he has 2 shutouts and has only allowed 1 goal with a 0.983 save percentage. Leo, who hails from Inverness, is a second year U15 player, who was an affiliate with The Novas last season. He came to camp this year with a strong work ethic and a determination to make the team. His commitment to improving and developing is certainly reflect in his play so far this year.

Tryout Update

Now that each team has announced their 13 plus 1 players who are on their roster for this year, other players have a 48 hour timeline whereby they can ask to be signed or released.

Please do however keep in mind that teams are only permitted to have 15 additional players to the 25 that they protected for the entire fall trout process. In other words, some teams may not be in a position to invite another player to try out for their team.

Cut off timing for player request will be 8 am on Wednesday Morning the 27th.

Hockey NS in partnership with NSU15 Major Hockey League announce new league franchise has been awarded

Hockey Nova Scotia, in partnership with the Nova Scotia U15 Major Hockey League, announced today that a new league franchise has been awarded in the Cole Harbour-Eastern Shore region.

Following a call for bids last month and a thorough selection process, an entry from an operating group consisting of Tyson Aalders and Shane Robar was selected as the winning bid in Region 5 (including the boundaries of the Cole Harbour Bel Ayr Minor Hockey Association and Eastern Shore Minor Hockey Association).

The new franchise will be branded as the Harbour Rage and will begin operations during the upcoming 2023-24 Nova Scotia U15 Major Hockey League season.

The new team operators bring several years of coaching and administrative experience at various levels of hockey in Nova Scotia to the new club.

The Nova Scotia U15 Major Hockey League is made up of 12 teams from across the province and is the top male U15 league in Nova Scotia.

Hockey Nova Scotia would like to congratulate Tyson Aalders and Shane Robar on their winning bid and wish their team the best of luck next season.

Changes to 2023-24 Fall Try-outs

Please note the following changes to this year`s Fall tryouts;

 

 

 

-         Teams will start fall tryouts with their 25 protected players and from there can only have 15 other players participate in their tryouts. Total maximum number of players allowed to tryout throughout the fall tryout process is 40. Participation to tryouts will be on an invitation basis only.

 

 

-         Fall tryouts for each team will consist of ;

-         Phase 1, Sept 11- 17th, 3 – 1.5 hour ice sessions. Rosters reduced to 22

-         Phase 2, Sept 18 – 24, 2 – 1.5 hour ice sessions, 13 plus 1 confirmed. There will be a 48 hour timeframe once the 13 plus 1 is posted that a player can request to be signed or released.

-         Early bird, 4 games each to be played at the East Hants arena, September 30th and October 1st    

-          Only 13 plus 1 players may sit out during these games. All unprotected players must play to allow other teams visibility to them.

-         At midnight on Sunday, October 1st, a minimum of 17 players must be confirmed for the year. 

 

-         Out of region first year players, making another team must play for the same team in year 2.  The team does have the option to release the player after year one however, they must release them after their spring ID camp.
