Veteran help Cougars win Two(2) on The Road
Our 1st in Halifax, on Saturday, was a penalty filled contest. The Cougars scored 4-in-a-row in the 3rd to erase a 4-3 deficit against the Wolverines, for a 7-4 victory. In the 1st Tucker Sinclair and Marc Burman put us up 2-0. But Halifax scored 2 quick goals to knot it at 2-2 before the end of the 1st. In the 3rd, we outscored Halifax 5-2, scoring the final 4 goals of the game. Ryan White with a shorthanded tally made it 3-3 and Owen Graice scored to tie it up at 4 with 13:19 remaing. Then Kingston Leporte put us ahead with the winning goal, followed by Sinclair with 2 for the hat-trick as he fired his 3rd into an open net with :58 remaining. Jax Ginnish and Madden Gillis had 2 helpers each, while Sinclair, Luke Andrea, Gracie and Laporte chipped in with an apple each. Danny LeVatte earned his 2nd win of the year. Cougars outshot the Wolverines 37-27. Our PP was 3-4 and PK was 8-9.
On Sunday we travelled to East Hants to take on The Rangers. Jacob Dunn opened the scoring, then Gillis and Sinclair made it 3-0 before the end of the 1st. The Rangers scored to cut the lead to 3-1 with 6:53 remaing in the 2nd. However, Nate Pheifer and Charlie MacLeod scored in the next :32 to make it 5-1. Then Gillis (with his 2nd) and Burke Aucoin made it 7-1 before the end of the period. MacLeod with his 2nd goal rounded out the scoring in the 3rd for an 8-1 win. Apples went to Sinclair(2), Ginnish(2), MacLeod(2) and singles to Gillis, Burman and Dunn. Brighton Hardy picked up the win to start the season 2-0. Final shots were 39-20 for our team.
We return home Oct 28th and 29th against the Bedford Bandits for two. Saturday 6:05 and Sunday 11:05.
