Bearcats win streak stops at two
The Truro Major Bantam Bearcats two game winning streak was halted on Saturday with a 3-1 loss to the Western Hurricanes.
The Hurricanes opened with two goals within a span of 2:30 in the first, but prior to the end of the period Bearcats defenceman Aaron Coleman fired a puck at the Hurricane net and Bradley Gallant tipped home his 5th point in two games to bring the score 2-1 at the end of the first. Brady Meech had the other assist on the goal.
Western scored at the 4:36 mark of the period to regain the two goal advantage. The Bearcats didn't quit as they kept Hurricanes goalie Aaron Mantle on his toes.
Truro goalie Luke Melanson who leads the league in minutes played stopped 33 of 36. Mantle stopped 25 of 26.
The Bearcats are 3-3 in 2012 and playing excellent hockey.
The Bearcats travel to PEI on Friday to play in the Annual Spud Hockey tournament this weekend. The next regular season game is February 11th when they host the Dartmouth MCK Ice Dawgs at the stadium at 430pm.
