NSU15 Player of the Month for January Max Kopec- Halifax Wolverines

It was an electrifying month for Halifax Wolverines forward Max Kopec. The veteran forward has elevated his game to new heights in his second season at the U15 Major level. His explosive skating, strong puck protection skills, and high-level hockey IQ are key pieces to his ability to contribute in all three zones.

In January, Max enjoyed an outstanding stretch, recording nine goals and nine assists across six regular-season games. Max's offensive output was instrumental in a strong month for the Wolverines, who posted five wins and just one loss. Max is versatile in the way he contributes; his elite scoring touch and vision make him a threat to shoot or pass on the attack. In the offensive zone, he uses his strength and skating to evade defenders and protect pucks down low. Max's production is a testament to his determination to succeed and make those around him better.

Beyond the scoresheet, Max's compete level and selflessness define his leadership, both on and off the ice. An assistant captain for the Wolverines, his calm and professional approach makes him a stabilizing influence, especially in high-pressure situations. His team-first mentality has been key to the Wolverines' success. Max's blend of production, experience, and leadership makes him a player the Wolverines depend on, on and off the ice.

NSU15 Player of the Month for December - The Gulls - Bowen Cranston

Bowen is in his first season at the U15 Major level after two very successful seasons with the U13 AAA Chebucto Atlantics. Since joining the GULLS, he has brought an impressive skill set, high-end offensive ability, and exceptional hockey IQ, making an immediate impact on the team.

In December, Bowen had an outstanding stretch, recording five goals and four assists across three regular-season games. His contributions were instrumental in securing three team victories, and he consistently demonstrated versatility and composure in all game situations. Bowen’s ability to read the ice, make smart plays, and generate scoring opportunities has made him a key player on the GULLS roster.

Beyond his statistics, Bowen’s leadership and compete level set him apart. He is reliable, composed, and competitive every night, inspiring teammates with his work ethic and consistent effort. While he leads the league in scoring, it is his determination, team-first mindset, and hockey intelligence that make him a key asset.

Player of the Month for November - Novas Oliver MacMullin

Oliver has been the steady heartbeat of our team all season, and his impact this month went far beyond the scoresheet. Trusted in every situation, he quarterbacks our breakout, anchors the penalty kill, and leads our top defensive pair with poise and confidence. His ability to control the pace of play and make the right decision under pressure has been instrumental in our success this year.

Offensively, Oliver contributed consistently throughout the month, finishing with six points in seven games, highlighted by a pair of multi-assist performances during a key stretch of wins. But it’s his leadership that truly sets him apart; reliable, composed, and competitive every night, Oliver MacMullin is the engine of our team and a deserving nominee for this month’s award.

The Novas Honour Remembrance

The Novas Honour Remembrance Day

Prior to Sunday’s game against The Gulls, The Novas took time to recognize the upcoming Remembrance Day.

Each year, our team proudly wears special camouflage jerseys featuring a poppy on the chest to honour and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.

Before puck drop, both The Novas and The Gulls stood respectfully on their respective blue lines for a brief ceremony and the playing of the National Anthem — a moment of unity, reflection, and gratitude to those who gave their lives for the freedoms we enjoy today.

Lest We Forget.
