Join Gail's Fight

On January 31, 2022 Gail Stewart, 46, was diagnosed with Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML), an uncommon type of cancer that requires a stem cell infusion, which injects healthy stem cells from a donor. The Stewart Family has been an integral part of The Nova Hockey program since its inception in 2010 and Gail is the ultimate Hockey Mom. Three of her children have been members of The Nova’s. Gail, along with her loving family, her husband Dave and children, Zac (2017-2018), Leyton (2018-2020), Rhyah (2020-2021), and Meryk, are urgently seeking a hero -- a matching stem cell donor to help save Gail's life.

• Registering to see if you are a match is EASY. Fill out a form, swab your cheeks and send the kit back free of charge.
• Only 1 in 700 people that join the registry ever go on to donate.
• If a match, donating is EASY and similar to a blood donation.

A cheek swab kit will be mailed to you. You must be between 17-35 years of age to register. Not everyone who registers will be matched to a patient and asked to donate, but each registrant provides hope for those waiting.
