Show Case Game 2023-24

We are pleased to announce that Harbour Rage have stepped forward to host this year`s show case game on December 28th.

 

The format and process will be same as before and as outlined below;

 

 

 

  • North and South Conference - each team in each conference will send 2 forwards and 1 defence.
  • Each team is to also name an alternate forward and defense
  • Goaltenders: Each coach is to nominate 2 goaltenders from their conference. 5 points will be awarded for first pick and 3 points second.
  • The teams will consist of 12F’s 6D and 2G. Totaling 20 Players
  • Both teams will be announced on December 18th
  • Injury replacements will come from the same team.

 

Team North All Stars: Kings Mutual, Rangers, Truro Bearcats, WearWell Bombers, The Novas and Cape Joneljim Cougars.

Team South All Stars: Harbour Rage, Bedford Bandits, Halifax Wolverines, Gulls, Dartmouth Whalers and Western Hurricanes.

 

Coach Selection:

 

  • Coaches will be selected on Tuesday December 18th. These will be based on standings. The highest ranked staff in the North and the highest ranked staff in the South will be named as the coaches for the All Star game. If there is a tie in points, it will be determined by wins.

 

We require all player nominations to be sent in no later than December 16th.

 

When nominating goaltenders, please indicate 1st pick and second pick.

 

 

Showcase day / activities / game will take place on December 28th at the Cole Harbour arena.

Agenda is as follows;

 

Team 1 practice 9:00-10:00am

 

Team 2 practice 10:00-11:00am

 

Lunch - 11:30am-12:30pm

 

Classroom - 1:00-2:00pm

 

Game 3:00-5:00pm

NSU15 Major Player of the Month-Cougars Tucker Sinclair

Tucker is a second year centre with our team and shows great promise to have the ability in transitioning to higher level teams in his future.

After 12 games this season Tucker is leading the league in goals, assists and total points.

Along with his regular shifts, Tucker plays as the anchor on our power play and also leads the league with 8 power play goals in 12 games.

Coaches are constantly impressed with Tucker’s hockey IQ and understanding of the game.

He is a very versatile player and can fit into whatever role coaches need him to be at any point in a game.

Tucker is a favourite with his teammates and a pleasure to coach.

NSU15 Major Player of the Month

The NS U15 Major October’s Player of The Month is Goaltender Leo Forance from the Nova`s.

 

Leo is statistically leading the League in all goaltending categories; in 3 games, he has 2 shutouts and has only allowed 1 goal with a 0.983 save percentage. Leo, who hails from Inverness, is a second year U15 player, who was an affiliate with The Novas last season. He came to camp this year with a strong work ethic and a determination to make the team. His commitment to improving and developing is certainly reflect in his play so far this year.

Tryout Update

Now that each team has announced their 13 plus 1 players who are on their roster for this year, other players have a 48 hour timeline whereby they can ask to be signed or released.

Please do however keep in mind that teams are only permitted to have 15 additional players to the 25 that they protected for the entire fall trout process. In other words, some teams may not be in a position to invite another player to try out for their team.

Cut off timing for player request will be 8 am on Wednesday Morning the 27th.

Hockey NS in partnership with NSU15 Major Hockey League announce new league franchise has been awarded

Hockey Nova Scotia, in partnership with the Nova Scotia U15 Major Hockey League, announced today that a new league franchise has been awarded in the Cole Harbour-Eastern Shore region.

Following a call for bids last month and a thorough selection process, an entry from an operating group consisting of Tyson Aalders and Shane Robar was selected as the winning bid in Region 5 (including the boundaries of the Cole Harbour Bel Ayr Minor Hockey Association and Eastern Shore Minor Hockey Association).

The new franchise will be branded as the Harbour Rage and will begin operations during the upcoming 2023-24 Nova Scotia U15 Major Hockey League season.

The new team operators bring several years of coaching and administrative experience at various levels of hockey in Nova Scotia to the new club.

The Nova Scotia U15 Major Hockey League is made up of 12 teams from across the province and is the top male U15 league in Nova Scotia.

Hockey Nova Scotia would like to congratulate Tyson Aalders and Shane Robar on their winning bid and wish their team the best of luck next season.
